Waichi Sekiguchi

Waichi Sekiguchi is an editorial writer and columnist for Nikkei, the largest business daily in Asia. He joined Nikkei in 1982 and has been covering the IT and electronics industries for over 20 years. As a Washington correspondent during the Bush and Clinton Administrations in the early 90s, Sekiguchi covered US trade and government issues. Prior to that, he was a Fulbright research fellow at The Center for International Affairs at Harvard University and a chief writer for The Nikkei Weekly, Nikkei’s former English edition. He has also served as a news commentator for a NHK World TV program “Nikkei Japan Report” from 2009 to 2012 and served as a main caster for a BS Japan program “Nikkei x BS Live 7PM” from 2012 to 2013.

Sekiguchi has written many books such as “Reimagining Japan”, “Cyberspace Revolution”, “Pioneers of the Japanese PC Industry”, “Savvy Search Technique”. Sekiguchi graduated from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo and is a visiting professor at Hosei University Business School and The Center for Global Communications (GLOCOM) at the International University of Japan. Sekiguchi also teaches at Waseda University and Meiji University as a part-time instructor and is an active member of the Japanese government IT related councils.
