Waichi Sekiguchi

Editorial Writer, Nikkei

Waichi Sekiguchi is an editorial writer for Nikkei Newspaper and a news commentator for the NHK World TV program "Nikkei Japan Report".

Joined Nikkei in 1982 and currently covers the IT industry and cyberspace issues. Sekiguchi used to be a Washington correspondent during the Bush and Clinton Administrations in early 90s covering US trade and government issues. Prior to that he was a Fulbright research fellow at the Center for International Affairs of Harvard University and he was a chief writer for The Nikkei Weekly, the English edition of the Nikkei newspaper.
He has written many books on the Internet and IT industry. Titles include "Cyberspace Revolution," "Savvy Search Technique," and "Pioneers of Japanese PC Industry." He also coauthored an English book titled "Reimagining Japan" following the recent Japanese earthquake.
Sekiguchi graduated from Hitotsubashi University and he is a visiting professor at Hosei University Business School and The Center for Global Communications (GLOCOM), International University of Japan. He also teaches at Waseda University and Meiji University as a part-time instructor.
