Glenn Tilton is chairman of the board of directors of United Continental Holdings, Inc.

United Continental Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: UAL) is the holding company for both United Airlines and Continental Airlines. Together with United Express, Continental Express and Continental Connection, these airlines operate a total of approximately 5,800 flights a day to 371 airports throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia from their hubs in Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Guam, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo and Washington, D.C. United and Continental are members of Star Alliance, which offers more than 21,200 daily flights to 1,172 airports in 181 countries worldwide through its 28 member airlines. United’s and Continental’s more than 80,000 employees reside in every U.S. state and in many countries around the world.

Previously, Tilton served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of UAL Corporation and chairman and chief executive officer of United Airlines, positions he assumed in 2002, where he led the company through a $23 billion restructuring, returned the company to profitability and successfully completed a merger between United and Continental Airlines.

Prior to joining United, Tilton was vice chairman of the board of directors of ChevronTexaco, as well as interim chairman of Dynegy Inc. Previously, he served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Texaco Inc., a position he assumed in February 2001.

Tilton, 62, joined Texaco Inc. in 1970 and served in various marketing, corporate planning and operational assignments of increasing responsibility, including president of Texaco Europe, president of Texaco USA and president of Texaco's Global Business Unit.

In 2010, Tilton was named by President Obama to the Presidential Export Council, by U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to the Future of Aviation Advisory Committee and by Chicago Mayor Richard Daley to the O’Hare Express Blue Ribbon Committee. Tilton serves as chairman of the board of directors of the Air Transport Association, the industry trade organization representing the leading U.S. airlines, which, along with their affiliates, transport more than 90 percent of all U.S. airline passenger and cargo traffic. He is also on the board of directors of Abbott Laboratories, Corning Inc. and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Tilton serves on the boards for the Field Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Economic Club of Chicago, the Executives’ Club of Chicago, the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago and After School Matters, as well as on the British American Chamber of Commerce.
