Ravi Kant is the Vice-Chairman of Tata Motors Ltd., which is India's largest Automobile Manufacturing Company. Earlier he was the Managing Director of the company. He joined the company in 1999, and has been associated with Jaguar & Land Rover, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicles, Korea and Tata Motors, Thailand.

Prior to joining Tata Motors Ltd., in 1999, Ravi Kant was Director, Phillips India Limited looking after Consumer Electronics.

He is the Chairman of Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd., TAL Manufacturing Solutions Ltd. Telco Construction Equipment Co. Ltd., Fiat India Automobiles Pvt. Ltd. and Tata Advanced Materials Ltd. He is on the Board of Voltas Limited, Tata Motors European Technical Centre.,U.K and Tata Industries. After the taking over of Jaguar and Landrover brands, he is also on the Board of Jaguar Landrover UK Ltd.

Ravi Kant had his education at Mayo College, Ajmer; Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and Aston University, Birmingham, UK from where he did his Masters in Management in Industry. He was conferred with an Honorary D.Sc. by the Aston University, in Birmingham in July 2008. He is an Honorary Industrial Professor at the University of Warwick, UK. He was awarded the BMA Management Man of the Year Award 2008-09. He has also been recognized with distinguished Alumunus Awards for Mayo College, Ajmer and IIT, Kharagpur. He is also on the Governing Board of the Vale Columbia Center on Sustainable International Investment.

Ravi Kant is also on the Governing Board of National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, Chairman of IIM, Rohtak and is past President of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. He has also been the Chairman of Audit Bureau of Circulations, National Readership Studies Council & The Advertising Standards Council of India. He is a member of the Governing Board of SMILE TRAIN - an international cleft lip/palate charity organisation.
